Assessment
I conduct thorough diagnostic evaluations by obtaining a full psychiatric/medical history and in-depth investigation of symptoms. I emphasize learning about you as a person and listening to your main concerns as they impact your functioning. I review criteria outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (fifth edition) in order to make diagnoses and guide treatment planning.
I also utilize assessment scales like PHQ-9, GAD-7, MDQ, Y-BOCS, PCL-5 to gain further insight into your experiences and track objective trends over time.
Treatment
My primary role is a medication management provider, but I believe that medication is just one tool of support we can utilize on your journey to improved mental wellbeing. I approach treatment in a comprehensive manner, addressing the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of health and encourage supportive measures like nutrition, supplements/vitamins, therapies, and more (when appropriate) as a pairing to our work together.
Additional
I plan to offer pharmacogenetic testing options in the near future, which can help identify genetic variations that can influence drug metabolism, efficacy, and potential side effects, with an aim to personalize medication therapy even further. While I encourage having an established relationship with a primary care provider to regularly assess your physical health status, I can order bloodwork deemed applicable to your case to establish a baseline prior to initiating treatment and/or as routine monitoring based on specific medication prescribing.
